Life is (a) Short at the Cinema du Parc of Montreal

On the tenth anniversary of her father's passing, Frankie contemplates the absurdity of creating content. She would rather end her life than produce a short film about death. But is she truly serious? This is a dark exploration of why we create art, viewed through the lens of grief.

Life is (a) Short is a nominee of Montreal Women Film Festival which screen at the Cinema du Parc of Montreal on September 6th, 2026. The project is directed by Brooke Dooley, an experienced producer with a global outlook and a passion for crafting meaningful artistic experiences. Since 2009, she has produced over 250 projects across various disciplines. Brooke is now channeling her diverse production experience into a new phase, focusing on her personal growth by directing her own projects.

After working on a film in Pakistan, she became a development executive in Los Angeles, where she packaged projects for brand sponsorship and mainstream distribution.

She produced Erahm Christopher’s feature "Listen," starring Micah Hauptman, Jay Reeves, Karen Bethzabe, and Maynor Alvarado; and most recently, Chase Joliet’s feature debut "Grapefruit," starring Rosanna Arquette and Steph Barkley.

She completed a short-term contract with Disney Branded Television as a Production Executive, overseeing marketing shoots for Disney+ titles "American Born Chinese," "The Santa Clauses," "Out of My Mind," "Big Shot: S2," and "Percy Jackson and The Olympians."

She continues to engage with projects that resonate deeply with audiences. She has a distinct expertise in collaborating with top executives while also managing day-to-day production needs.
