"Stories From the Street" screening at Cinema du Parc/Q&A with director

Over the course of a year, this documentary captures the voices of several current or former homeless individuals in Toronto, highlighting the severe challenges posed by unaffordable housing. Through a collection of shared narratives and experiences, the film particularly focuses on Brent, an older man who receives transitional housing in a Tiny Tiny Home and eventually secures his own apartment after a lifetime of intermittent homelessness.
"Stories from the Street" is set to be shown at Cinema du Parc on September 6, 2026, as a finalist in the theatrical screenings of the 2026 Montreal Women Film Festival. This Canadian documentary, directed by Andrea Ramolo, will feature her presence at the event, where she will participate in a Q&A session following the screening. =
Andrea Ramolo is a renowned Canadian filmmaker, accomplished touring and recording artist, actor, dancer, songwriter, and educator. She took on the roles of writer, creator, narrator, composer, and executive producer for the documentary film THE SOUTH, which received the 45th Canadian Ethnic Media Award for BEST DOCUMENTARY in 2023. The film premiered at Toronto’s ICFF Lavazza Inclucity Film Festival, was screened at Toronto’s esteemed Hot Docs/Ted Roger’s Cinema, and is currently available on Amazon Prime Italia, VOD platforms, and Fast Channels.
Andrea has also produced and directed numerous music videos. She recently received her second Canadian Independent Music Video Award as producer/director/editor for Kristin Sweetland’s La Vie (aprés la guerre) and previously won for her own video Free (ft. Kinnie Starr), which she produced and co-directed. Her short films BABY and A NIGHT UNDER THE STARS IN A PARKING LOT are currently on the film festival circuit and have earned her numerous accolades, including BEST DRAMA, BEST FEMALE DIRECTOR, BEST INDIE SHORT, BEST DEBUT SHORT, BEST ACTRESS, BEST WOMEN’S SHORT, among others. BABY is currently under consideration for the 2025 Canadian Screen Awards.
Andrea has three new films in the festival circuit: STORIES FROM THE STREET - a documentary on the homeless crisis, her latest dramatic short film BIRD GIRL featuring 13-year-olds Emilee Ann Pitawanakwat and Nathalie Puts, and HAPPY HOUR - a Tarantino-style dark comedy with a female perspective.
Andrea is also an award-winning musician, hosted her own Italian music radio show, and is the founder and artistic director of OUR MUSIC FESTIVAL in Toronto - a non-profit festival celebrating female and non-binary artists.
